On July 31, the company staff returned with high honors from the earthquake-stricken area in Sichuan. After 68 days and nights of tough fighting and overcoming difficulties like high temperature and aftershocks, 60 cadres and more than 1,000 employees from Construction Aid Project Department of our company, totally completed 1550 temporary dwellings, and outside supporting facilities of 18 schools and kindergartens and hospitals in Shifang.
Deputy Mayor of Shifang City Huang Jian said, as the first batch of team into the disaster area, Dalian relief team got the best construction quality with the fastest assistance speed. Deputy Chief Command of Dalian Relief Team in Sichuan Disaster Relief Headquarters and director of Dalian Municipal Construction Committee Tan Jibin told the reporters: "Dalian Municipal Party Committee and Dalian Government attached great importance to the disaster relief work, Secretary of Dalian Municipal Party Committee Zhang Chengyin and Mayor Xia Deren requested disaster relief team to take the needs of the people in disaster area as orders, to take the school reconstruction as the love project of Dalian people, to carry forward the spirit of continuous operation and to complete all the project construction at an early date. Leaders of the Ministry of Construction commended schools and temporary dwellings we reconstructed are the best in the disaster areas. Local government and people were very pleased with our relief work, and they brought pennants and plaques and wrote numerous thank-you letters.” Local residents “scrambled” with each other to get Dalian temporary dwellings and will retain for a long time the transitional schools Dalian relief team built.
